Bystander CPR and Early Defibrillation Saves Lives.  AEDs placed throughout the community can make a difference in survival.  All AED programs in Texas require the following:

Medical Direction-- AEDs are controlled devices and require a physician for purchase.  There are many options for AED programs:

• Commercial Medical Direction programs are available through your AED vendor
• You can use any physician willing to provide medical direction for an AED program
• Our office will provide medical direction for programs in Travis County

Registering the AED-- All AEDs should be registered with your local emergency services provider.  In Austin and Travis County you can Email, Mail or Fax a copy of (AED Registration Form) or use this On-Line Link.

Training -- Designated responders should be certified in CPR and AED use (traditional CPR Certification), EVERYONE should know how to give compressions and use the AED in an emergency (TAKE10 free CPR training)
