Hilary has been a Firefighter and EMT with the Austin Fire Department since 1995. She has been working with community defibrillation and CPR programs in Austin and Travis County for the past seven years. Prior to becoming a firefighter, she worked providing hospice care to AIDS patients here in Austin. She is a graduate of the University of California at Berkeley and attended Nursing School at the University of Virginia. Her studies in Anthropology have helped her negotiate the very unique cultures of the fire service and of medical care providers.
